Veneers
These are thin pieces of specially shaped porcelain or composite that are cemented to the front aspect of your teeth with minimal reduction of tooth structure.
There are different styles:
1) Porcelain Veneers
These are thin porcelain veneers that are placed with minimal tooth reduction. They can totally change the size, shape and color of your teeth.
2) Composite Veneers
These are simply bonded composites on your front teeth. These are much lower in cost but are limited to the natural tooth shape, color, and size. These can change color over time also.
3) Cerinate Veneers
These are ultra thin porcelain veneers that are placed without any tooth reduction but are limited to certain cases.
Any kind of porcelain veneers are expected to last about 15 years Their placement requires a person to have healthy gingiva and good oral care. People who have severe bruxism, clenching or grinding problems can fracture veneers and might need an occlusal guard fabricated. In some instances, some temporary sensitivity can occur.
